Founder
My relationship with buildings started long before SWAP.
I grew up around construction, working alongside my uncle thatching and developing an early understanding of buildings, materials and craftsmanship. That practical grounding eventually led me into planning and architecture, where I learned how places are shaped not only by design, but by policy, politics, economics and the communities around them.
Over the following two decades, my work expanded across planning, architecture and property development — advising on sites, designing schemes, securing planning permissions and taking projects through development.
That combination of experience is what SWAP is built around today: looking at a project from more than one perspective and understanding what it takes to turn an opportunity into something that can actually be delivered.
EXPERIENCE
We understand development from more than one perspective.
SWAP’s experience spans residential, mixed-use and regeneration projects at very different scales — from individual homes and rural sites to complex urban developments.
Our experience spans projects from early feasibility through planning, design and delivery, with an understanding of the practical, commercial and planning issues that determine whether a scheme succeeds.
That is complemented by direct property development experience — bringing an understanding of land value, viability, risk, funding and construction. Advice is therefore considered not simply in terms of what might gain planning permission, but what can realistically be delivered.

A planning decision affects design. Design affects value. Value affects viability. Site constraints create opportunities as well as limitations. Understanding those relationships early can fundamentally change the potential of a project.
